Damn you Bonds!
I am a Rockies fan and like all Rockies fans, I despise Barry Bonds. I was hoping it would be the LA Dog Turds that would've served up the homer, not Aaron Cook! Oh well, it's just one lousy home run, right? I just hope he won't get the others he needs to break the record! I wish someone would just nail him damn good and hard in either his bad knee or the bad elbow and do all of us Bonds haters and baseball fans in general a favor and give him an EARLY RETIREMENT!

Another subject I can rant about a la Bonds: ESPN and their CONSTANT coverage of him and of the Yankees! I am beginning to dislike ESPN immensely because when it comes to baseball, that's ALL they give a hang about :( Piss off, ESPN!

Steroids and the race card.
First post in the sports shit talk section so bare with me.

My friend sent me some snippets from an article today that he read in the newspaper about how the NAACP is getting involved in the steroids battle claiming that MLB is racially motivated in investigating Bonds and others. I typically don't pay much attention to all this NAACP junk but this pisses me off. What about investigating a guy who may break MLBs most hallowed record is racial motivated? Just to prove these NAACP guys have no freaking clue what they are talking about here is a quote.

"white people don't want Barry Bonds to pass Babe Ruth's record,
and that Babe Ruth is the last thing they have to celebrate since Larry
Bird retired"

Are you fucking kidding me? First of all Babe Ruth's record fell three decades ago and it was a black man to do it. Dumbass! Second, the fact that this NAACP jackass is saying this is somewhat racist in my opinion.

There are more dumbasses in this too. Several black
players in the MLB (Torri Hunter & Matt Lawton & former MLB player Dave
Winfield) who are saying this is all about race. Didn't Matt Lawton test positive for the juice?

Dave Winfield is quoted as saying "What about Mark McGwire? No one talks about him anymore." Hello DAVE! Last time I checked everyone was talking about him after the congressional hearings last spring. He may not get into the Hall of Fame because of that. It's died down now because he isn't about to break the all time home run record!

Then later in the article they basically call out Roger Clemons saying that he is pitching well into his 40s and no one is claiming he is no the juice. Well alot of pitchers pitch well in the later years. Was Nolen Ryan on the juice?

These people are morons. I can't believe they actually have influence in this country. It just shows you what money can get you.

Mariah in Detroit?
Is the NFL trying to make Thanksgiving Day football unwatchable now? I have to sit through Atlanta/Detroit. But having to sit through Mariah Carey at halftime is ridiculous. The last time I looked, the NFL's target audience wasn't 13-14 year old girls, which is the only crowd Mariah Carey attracts unless she sings topless. The last time I looked, the NFL fans in the stands consisted mostly of 20 and 30 something year old men and I know damn well they don't listen to Mariah Carey! She's a great singer (which is more than Ashlee Simpson can say) but that's not what a bunch of drunk fat guys in body paint wanna see! Could the NFL not get Foreigner, or AC/DC or Ozzy? SOMETHING...ANYTHING besides Mariah fucking Carey? Thoughts, opinions and replacments welcome.

The whole steroids issue and other random schtuff
I am glad to hear they've changed the penalties for steroid abuse in baseball. I am also glad to hear that Arizona's amazing Senator, John McCain, was not about to give up on his thoughts and what he believes MLB should do about the whole steroid issue. John has made us Arizonans not only heard but proud as well!!!

Now, I know who I can and will shit talk on: Wayne Hagin...former Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals radio announcer. He's dug himself a really deep hole with Rockies/Helton fans by blatantly accusing Todd Helton of using steroids. Well Wayne, how's the unemployment line treating you so far? Hopefully his ass will be staying in that line a good while!!! I was outraged when I heard on the news about his accusations toward Todd...first of all because Todd will tell you himself that he is very much AGAINST the use of steroids and other body-enhancing substances...and second, because Wayne ALWAYS had very positive and great things to say about Todd...but that was totally uncalled for. Wayne is hated in Colorado now because of what he's said. Apparently it rubbed off in St. Louis too since the Cards told him to take a hike. Good for them...they got wise very fast!!! All I can say is Wayne's remarks were NOT welcomed here and he can kiss my ass!!

I hate Joe Buck and Tim McCarver and FOX's shit-ass production of MLB telecasts. Way to make the game unappealing by letting a computer throw up all over the broadcast. Buck and McCarver have nothing to say about anything. Ever.

I think we can all agree on this one.

And since we're in such a hateful mood let's trash other broadcasters. Name the worst broadcasters/sports anchors/ESPN personalities out there. GO!

My two cents on steroids and other things
Okay, I am very much against athletes using steroids...as much as the next fan is...and what I want to know is why is Bonds getting away with taking them and also getting 'special treatment' just because he can hit the damn ball??? The guy is an overpaid, egotistical, selfish bastard who doesn't give a rat's ass about his fans or anyone else it seems...yet he gets away with murder practically!!! Now, Rafael Palmeiro will probably not be allowed in the HOF since he's been pretty much convicted of steroid abuse and should be in the Hall of SHAME...what about Bonds??? If indeed he IS taking the damned things (which it seems pretty obvious to most, if not all, baseball fans), should he be allowed since Rafael won't be? My answer is NO!!! If you won't allow Rafael, then don't allow Bonds when he's eligible...stick to your guns!!!

How about this...Why in the world would they let Ty Cobb in since he was in on murdering a man and also had several mafia ties, yet they won't allow Pete Rose in???

Matt Lawton deserves whatever punishment he gets for his steroid usage...enuff said there!!!

I am very anti-drugs of any sort, and I also think that players should NOT be allowed to smoke cigarettes either....they are ATHLETES, they should not be doing anything harmful or illegal to their bodies...that also goes for chewing tobacco!!!

*takes the mic*
Our goat today: Mike Sherman.

I am fucking sick and tired of people saying it isn't his fault the Packers are in decline.

Hello, it IS his fault. Not only because he's the most conservative coach in NFL history, but because he was the general manager from 2001-2005 and drafted players who were frauds (Jamal Renyolds), could never stay healthy (James Lee, Chris Johnson), or were some horrible combination of both (David Martin). Other than the 2002 draft, our 4 drafts under Sherman as GM were just depressing. Ron Wolf used to find guys in the late rounds who can play, Sherman can't find guys in the second and third round who can play, let alone the 6th and 7th rounds. For his first couple years, Sherman was coaching and GM'ing with Wolf's found talent, so of course he did well. Now that his talent is the base of the team, we're floundering.

Mike Sherman's DraftsCollapse )

Only 2 guys are left from the 2001 draft, 4 from 2002, 3 from 2003 (if you count Al Harris), and 5 from 2004.

Not only were Sherman's drafts bad, but his free agent signings were even worse. Hannibal Navies, a career special teamer, is supposed to come in and be the answer at linebacker? Mark Roman, a converted corner is supposed to be the solution to our problems at safety?

And don't even get me started on how after the whole 4th and 26 fiasco Sherman fired Ed Donatell only to hire his good buddy Bob Slowik instead of going out and looking for a real defensive coordinator, thus driving away Mike McKenzie and opening up our secondary for the emergence of the Human Holding Penalty. Also, Sherman has staunchly defended Tom Rossley for years, when he's calling the same Packer plays that we've used since 1992 that don't work anymore. We need a real offensive coordinator, and Sherman taking over the playcalling duties hasn't helped at all. I'd rather have the Rossley screen pass on third and 3 than the Sherman run up the middle for -3 on 3rd and 8.

... don't get me wrong, I don't hate Mike Sherman, but people need to face the facts--he fucked up this franchise beyond repair, and the sooner we can get rid of him the better.

I hate MLB teams that throw around money and achieve absolutely nothing. See, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles, etc. Perenially, they do this. It's fucking retarded to overspend the way these teams do, and for what? Mediocrity? Congratufuckinlations, you've wasted everyone's time and a lot of money. How does it feel to look like a damn fool?

PS I love this community.

My Rant
A few of my many thoughts on the world of sports:

Am I the only person happy to see the Patriots at 4-4 and on the cusp of not making the playoffs? Fuck the golden boy and his three rings and two MVP's!!

Why is everyone hating on Joey Harrington. There's a guy who resides in Houston, Texas by the name of David Carr who is, oh, by the way, 1-7. I know that no one cares about the Texans because, well, they're the Texans, but he deserves a little shit, too. He's the first overall draft pick for an expansion team and he seems to be getting worst every year? Does anyone know who his backup QB is?

I hate Spencer Tillman. When asked about the T.O. situation on College Football Today, he pulled the race card. Wow.

The NHL still sucks. Trying to watch it on TV is like trying to watch soccer on TV. Ugh, horrible.

Speaking of soccer, it's just as bad seeing it live than it is watching it on TV.

Move the Saints to LA. Sorry about the Katrina tragedy but let's give the Saints a permanent home. And besides, Texas has enough football teams. One more team in Texas and then the NFL becomes the NBA.

That's all I got. Comment if you wish.

I hate the Boston Red Sox. Everything about them. From their fans to their management to the knee-jerk Boston media right down to the team.

Good morning. :)
